The day after I graduated from DBU, I opened my first martial arts gym. A few weeks later, I met Kelsey Ezell. Kelsey is charming, intelligent, and beautiful. When I learned that she was a Christian and an active member of the Young Republican Club, I knew that I had just met my future wife. We married in June of 2017, surrounded by family and friends. While looking for a place to raise a family, we immediately thought of the community where we both had fond memories of family trips. Kelsey and I both wanted to raise our family in the charming and historic town of Granbury. I opened Zev Marital Arts in Acton and Kelsey began working as a licensed professional counselor. Our precious first child, Liberty Grace, was born in 2022 and our second will arrive early next year.
Kelsey and I are actively involved in multiple areas of church life. I also serve the community by offering self-defense classes to church groups and women’s groups, among others. I am a strong supporter of Granbury’s first responders and military as well as our teachers. It is because I love our community and the good people who live here that I decided to run for city council. It is my hope to serve our community by upholding conservative values and giving every citizen a voice in this town’s government.
My earliest years were spent in Eastern Europe where my parents served as missionaries – first in Hungary and later in Bosnia. It was there where I developed a love for people, culture, and languages. At 3 years old, I attended the Hungarian equivalent of kindergarten in Budapest and learned to speak both Hungarian and German. My father was a pastor at the International Church in Budapest so between school and church, my first friends were literally from all over the world. In 1999, my family moved to North Texas, where we have lived for the past twenty-four years. At age 6, I enrolled in my first martial arts class and quickly developed a love for the discipline. I’ve studied multiple forms and have earned black belts in 3 of them including a black belt in Brazilian Jujitsu. My passion for the martial arts continued to develop throughout my life and would later be the foundation for my business, Zev Martial Arts, located in Acton. At Zev, I am more than just the owner, I am also the lead coach and I am honored to say that our competition team has won multiple regional, state, national, and even world titles in jujitsu and just recently, a state title in mixed marital arts. I graduated with a Bachelor Degree in Communications with a minor in Psychology from Dallas Baptist University in 2015. While working on this degree, I interned with the Dallas-based security company, Trident Response Group. It was here where I learned the importance of defending freedom and conservative values. I also learned to stand firm on my convictions – even when I stand alone.
